When should I begin my application process?
The answer is short: it’s never too early! The application process for universities abroad is very different from that of traditional universities in Latin America. It involves much more than just taking an entrance exam. In many countries, it is common to start preparing years in advance, as universities tend to evaluate performance and activities from the last four years of high school or college.
Starting early allows you to design a solid strategy that will capture the interest of institutions. In our podcast “College Insiders,” we talk more about when to start preparing to apply.
Which countries and universities can I apply to with Educa?
With Educa, you can apply to universities in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, or Oceania, and apply simultaneously to several countries. During the process, we work with you to create a personalized list of universities, considering factors such as your academic profile, interests, location, language, climate, and type of university.
Students from across the region have been admitted to more than 15 countries. The most frequent destinations include the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Spain. Each year, Educa students are admitted to the top 360 universities in the world, all of which are among the most prestigious rankings globally.
How much does it cost to study abroad?
El costo de estudiar en una universidad internacional varía según el país, la institución y el estilo de vida del estudiante. En general, los rangos más comunes son:
The cost of studying at an international university varies depending on the country, the institution, and the student’s lifestyle. In general, the most common ranges are:
- United States: between US$45.000 and US$110.000 per year, including tuition, accommodation, food, and basic expenses.
- United Kingdom and Canada: between US$35.000 and US$70.000 per year, with differences depending on the city, degree program, and type of university.
- European Union (Netherlands, Spain, France, Italy, among others): in some countries, costs can start at US$15.000 per year, although the most common range is between US$25.000 and US$45.000 per year, including tuition and living expenses.
These figures represent the total annual cost of studying abroad, not just tuition.

Can Educa help me win a scholarship?
Being our signature values transparency and accountability, our short answer is that we cannot guarantee or predict the awarding of scholarships. Nor do we manage external scholarships (such as those from companies or governments).
However, every year dozens of our students receive significant financial support. In total, our students have accumulated more than $46 million in scholarships, including full rides at universities that offer financial aid and special awards such as the Pearson Scholarship at the University of Toronto.
In general, scholarships are more common in the United States, especially at private universities, where there are two main types:
- Financial aid scholarships: offered by a limited number of universities, these can cover the entire cost of tuition and living expenses.
- Academic merit scholarships: these reward academic performance and usually cover part of the cost of tuition.
At Educa, we actively collaborate in every aspect of the admissions process:
- We guide students on where and how to apply.
- We provide expert advice on filling out financial information forms such as the CSS Profile and, for those with U.S. citizenship, the FAFSA.
- We assist with special applications that some universities require in order to consider students for their scholarship programs.
To promote transparency and access to information, we also share resources such as our podcast “College Insiders,” where we explain the context of scholarships in detail.
